As part of the support program for the Global Social Venture Competition (GSVC) finalists, Mowgli Foundation, in partnership with Berytech, kick started the first yearlong Mowgli Mentoring Experience (MME) for social entrepreneurs in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.  The GSVC is an international business plan competition for social entrepreneurs, which is gratefully supported by several key partners including Saint-Joseph University, BLC Bank and MercyCorps Egypt. Mon expérience personnelle lors de la participation au concours de Femme francophone entrepreneure avec l’Agence universitaire francophone(AUF) et Berytech, a changé ma vie.

Je suis infirmière et sage-femme et j’étais enseignante depuis 20 ans à l’Université Libanaise et j’ai travaillé comme bibliothécaire avec l’Université Saint Joseph depuis 9 ans. Lorsque j’ai lu dans l’Orient le jour, l’article qui annonce le concours, il m’a interpellé. Bien que je fusse contente dans ce que je faisais, ce qui me manquait était la satisfaction de mes ambitions.

Yesterday, I read a very interesting article about Hind Hobeika, an entrepreneur at Berytech, in the magazine “Entrepreneur Levant”. The article describes Hind’s innovation and her journey as an entrepreneur. The Creative Media Days investigate the role of ICT innovation in media, focusing on the creative possibilities and the emergence of new business models. The BCC took part in a series of conferences and workshops that looked into new business models, innovative technology and emerging platforms and applications.

Startup Weekend Beirut 2012 that took place July 6,7,8 2012 at Berytech Mar Roukoz was a great success! The event was attended by more than 200 people, 130 of which participated to be part of 25 teams in the 54 hour event. Out of 40 pitched ideas, 25 were shortlisted through attendees voting, and 17 out of which survived till the end.
