Dr. Walid Khairallah explaining how human evolution effected our bodies and the food we consume.

TATHMEER launched its first activity last week with the first of a 3 session workshop: an “Introduction to Preventive Health Care”. TATHMEER works on strengthening capacities as a preventive measure for self-sufficiency. TATHMEER, in line with its vision of strong conscious, cultured, aware, empowered, creative, self-determined local stakeholders, pro-actively engaged in sustained local development, part of a harmonious global culture grounded in Justice for all, saw fit to start its empowerment activities by focusing on the health of the social actors and other local stakeholders from a preventive health care perspective.

The 2 hours interactive presentation by Dr. Walid Khairallah had the 24 people present mesmerized. Starting with when we were a one cell organism, Dr. Khairallah, Head of the Department of Endocrinology at the Bellevue Medical Center, went through some 82 slides. With much animated discussion, he explained how human evolution effected our bodies and the food we consume. In simple terms and well presented medical research by known international doctors and scientists, Dr. Khairallah built a solid foundation for all to understand why we could be sensitive to food intake & external agents. With a serious expertise in Nutrition, Health Coaching and good humor, he answered all questions raised from autoimmune disorders to food allergies. This empowered participants in ways that will allow them to take the necessary preventive measures to handle health issues with engaging facts and self assurance!
